amongst other things..
How are ya, now?
I've decided to switch up the content in me newsletter/blog thingy. After almost a whole year of writing on here, I think I found a better flow for me and perhaps, it's even better for you. It's way less intrusive then having you read my ramblings. The switch was heavily inspired by one of my favorite writers, Austin Kleon. So let's see how long I can keep this up lol Today we're starting version 2.0 of the bi-weekly notes on this thing.
Here's seven stuffs I thought I'd share with ya, Ferda.
Kuma officially won The Dogs Day of Summer Photo contest that we’ve been annoying about for the past two weeks. I feel like I could not say thank you enough to every one who made this even possible. Kuma could not be more grateful, either. It’s one of the sweetest firsts we’ve ever experienced.
Our hot marine veteran friend took us off the pavement to a yellow post camp site in Lyttle Creek for a day trip. It was fun as fuck and I almost shit my pants driving there. I didn’t realize little adventures like this existed in our LA backyard and once again, this dude ruined the way I saw the great outdoors.
My absolute favorite scene on Shoresy is when Shoresy explains tough love to Sanguinette. It changed the way I view myself and the way i think about friendships. I still haven’t got over how good this show is.
Did you know Woe is Me has risen from the ashes? I just learned this recently and I’m not sure why I was surprised. I mean I absolutely loved them back in the 2010s, but who else is coming out of retirement? Abandon All Ships? Iwrestledabearonce? (I just did some research and found out that the last vocalist of iwabo is actually now in Spirit Box. She is so good, I need to look further into this lol My mind is blown.)
This little excerpt is from one of my favorite comics on the internet. It’s called “How to walk a human being.. a guide for dogs” by The Oatmeal. It’s hilarious and it’s a worthwhile share even if you don’t have a pup.
I read a really good book called Courage is Calling last May. In this book, the author Ryan Holiday wrote something that resonated with me - “Shakespeare said that we meet the time as it seeks us. But we have to seek the time and the moments too. We can’t be passive. We can’t wait. We must reach out”.
Here’s one of my favorite photos i’ve taken in the last two weeks besides the ones of the pups in Lyttle. This is my friend Benny from Lions Amongst Wolves. It didn’t occur to me how hard it is to adult, to work a full time job, and still make time to follow your passions. Kudos to the dads and dudes in LAW. Mad love.
So there's this new movie that just came out with Jo Koy called Easter Sunday. I'm pretty excited to see a film based on Filipino culture. It's so scarce in US media. I think the most people have got a glimpse was during that Spiderman movie where you meet Ned's Lola. It was like opening a crack in the door for people who are not familiar with Filipino culture. It's just dope and I can't wait to watch it this coming week.
Until then -
